The Skimlite 6317 belongs to the SnapLite family, so the comparison with our 26ft carbon fiber pole begins with its button-lock design. It should not be described as a two-piece pole with twist locks. Getting the exact model right makes it easier to decide whether you want a different pole or simply more reach.
This guide compares published specifications and buying considerations. We sell the PoolPoles carbon fiber model. This guide does not present a controlled head-to-head test of weight, flex, service life or cleaning speed against the 6317.
The verified Skimlite 6317 details
Skimlite’s official SnapLite listing identifies the 6317 as a three-piece pole with an approximate 6–17ft range, button locks and decagon-shaped tubing. Its manufacturer buying guide describes the SnapLite line as aluminum. Verify the model number when buying parts or comparing listings, since other SnapLite sizes use different section counts.
Our 26ft Carbon Fiber Pool Pole has four telescopic sections and three quick-release clamps. Its connection is intended for standard pool brushes, nets and vacuum heads. Compatibility should still be checked for your particular attachment and any adapter.

Button locks and lever clamps feel different to use
The 6317’s button-lock system gives you a different adjustment method from a lever clamp. Before choosing, consider how often you change the length during a job and how comfortably you can operate the mechanism. Inspect the product or manufacturer instructions for the available settings and proper engagement.
Our quick-release clamps provide lever-operated adjustment across the four sections. That can be attractive if you want this style of control. It does not prove that button locks are unreliable or that lever clamps cannot wear. Check whichever system you use before work, and follow the maker’s care and adjustment instructions.
Is a longer working range useful for your pool?
The nominal maximum length of our pole is about nine feet longer than the 6317’s approximate 17ft specification. That is a meaningful difference to consider if a shorter pole leaves part of your routine work out of reach. It does not mean you should work at full extension all the time.
Measure from the safe deck positions available to you. A vacuum head on a deep floor needs diagonal reach, while a net collecting leaves near the surface needs a different angle. Keep enough pole in your hands for control. Check collapsed length separately before assuming a longer pole will fit in the same storage space.
Choose on the complete setup
A net, brush and vacuum head create different demands. If possible, compare handling at the length you normally use with the same attachment. Check exact weights where published; material labels alone cannot establish that our pole weighs a specific fraction of the 6317.
For either design, avoid using the shaft to lever a stuck attachment free or to lift heavy debris from far across the pool. Bring a loaded net toward the edge and reduce the extension before lifting when practical. Extra maximum reach does not remove the need for controlled technique or regular inspections.
Before you order
- Confirm whether the extra reach solves a recurring problem on your pool or route.
- Check that your existing attachment connects fully and securely, without modifications.
- Review the correct replacement parts for the exact model rather than assuming locks are interchangeable.
- Read current package contents, pricing, shipping and return terms on the seller’s product page.
- Inspect your existing pole before discarding it; a compatible service part may be enough if reach is not the problem.
Which pole should you choose?
The 6317 can be a reasonable fit if you want a SnapLite button-lock pole and its reach covers the work. Choose our 26ft carbon fiber model when the additional length and quick-release lever system better match your requirements. That is a useful feature-based decision without needing claims that every aluminum pole bends or every carbon pole is indestructible.
Long poles require care around people, overhead cables and electrical equipment. Carbon fiber is conductive. Keep equipment within its intended cleaning use, stop if you find damage or slipping locks, and follow the product instructions. Our store page has current product details so you can check the fit before buying.
