Skimlite CarbonLite vs Blackout Pro: Reach, Locks and Fit

Skimlite makes a CarbonLite range of carbon fiber pool poles, with several lengths and section configurations. If you are comparing a Skimlite carbon fiber pool pole with our Blackout Pro, start with an exact model number. That gives you something useful to compare beyond a brand name or a broad claim about material.

We sell the Blackout Pro 26ft Carbon Fiber Pool Pole. The comparison below uses published manufacturer details and practical buying questions. We have not conducted a documented side-by-side performance test of these models.

CarbonLite is a range, so choose a specific SKU

The current Skimlite CarbonLite series page lists two- and three-piece models from CL612L through CL823L. It labels the lengths approximate. Individual model pages supply additional dimensions and, in some cases, use different rounded lengths.

  • CL617L: The individual page calls this a three-piece 17ft pole and gives approximately 6ft 8in to 16ft 10in in its detailed description.
  • CL815L: The individual page title says 14ft, with approximately 7ft 10in to 14ft 3in in the detailed body. The series page instead lists 7.5–15ft.
  • CL820L: Its individual page title says 21ft and the detailed body gives approximately 7ft 10in to 20ft 7in, while the series page lists 7.5–20ft.

Skimlite’s published ranges vary between its series and individual product pages. Check the exact SKU’s extended and collapsed dimensions with the seller before ordering, especially if storage space or maximum reach is critical. Avoid treating a model number, rounded title or older listing as a precise measurement.

Compare the actual working reach

Blackout Pro is listed at approximately 26ft, with four telescopic sections and three quick-release locks. It provides more listed maximum length than the CarbonLite examples above. That may be useful if a shorter pole leaves a reach gap, but it does not establish that it is easier to control for every task.

Check the areas you need to clean from stable footing on the deck. Surface distance, water depth and attachment angle all matter. Leave enough pole in your hands to guide the tool, stay within the extension limits and shorten the pole for nearby work. Extra length does not eliminate the need to move around the pool.

Look beyond the carbon fiber label

The individual CarbonLite pages describe lever locks and decagon-shaped carbon-fiber tubing intended to reduce twisting. Blackout Pro’s current listing specifies 3K carbon fiber, all-black hardware, a textured grip and a 16-hole metal connector for tool attachment and drainage. These are distinct designs to inspect against your needs.

For weight, compare complete models on the same basis. For handling, use the same attachment at a similar extension. Manufacturer descriptions cannot establish a universal winner without comparable measurements. Evaluate the design, condition and service options without assuming a particular lifespan or productivity improvement.

Check parts and maintenance before buying

Skimlite sells a CarbonLite large-body lock replacement kit containing the body, lever, thumb knob and hardware. Its listing notes that three-piece poles need the small-body kit as well for a complete rebuild. Match the parts to your exact model.

Blackout Pro replacement quick-lock kits are available separately through our store. Do not assume that lock parts from these brands interchange. Ask about the particular repair you may need and compare the current warranty terms for the pole you are buying.

Skimlite’s pole-care guidance recommends rinsing, checking the locking system and inspecting for damage. Keep equipment protected in storage and follow each manufacturer’s adjustment instructions. Carbon fiber conducts electricity; keep long poles clear of electrical hazards. Both products discussed here are cleaning equipment.

Make a model-specific choice

Keep a sound pole if it already fits your attachments and reaches the work. Shortlist a CarbonLite if its particular length, locks and service options suit you. Consider Blackout Pro if the approximately 26ft range and our connector design address a practical need on your route or at your pool.

Before ordering, confirm the exact SKU, included items, current price, shipping and warranty details. Ask about any conflicting dimensions instead of assuming the more favorable figure is correct.
